Protech Group has been named the winner of the H&V News Positive Impact Award for its digital Health & Safety system, a development the judges acknowledged for delivering measurable improvements for employees and client sites.
The accolade recognises projects that create genuine and lasting benefit, with Protech’s platform singled out for strengthening workplace safety while improving transparency and response times.
The cloud-enabled system puts reporting tools directly into engineers’ and support staff’s pockets, enabling staff to raise observations instantly from site. That ease of reporting has driven a sharp rise in submissions and widened participation: apprentices can now log issues without routing them through supervisors, and managers receive the information they need to act. In several instances, the faster workflow has led to immediate interventions which have included the rapid condemnation of unsafe scaffolding discovered during an inspection, preventing potential harm.
Safety alerts and information can be communicated instantly and include the ability for recipients to confirm their understanding. Along with safety alerts, users can access Toolbox Talks (TBTs) educational videos and links to essential information. If further information is required, users can ask questions in the chat function.
To help facilitate understanding, Protech has created a YouTube channel hosting all TBT video and have an integrated Information Management System (IMS) on safety culture, as well as IMS Live on teams allowing access to all for any documentation Policies and procedures. This helps people easily access the information they need in the way that best suits their learning style and schedule.
Key to all of this is strong engagement with everyone at Protech, ensuring they are empowered to discuss any issues and ask questions to help make the workplace as transparent and safe as possible.
Clients have also seen the practical advantages. Every observation generates a clear, auditable record and triggers automatic notifications, so customers can see reports and progress actions in real time. Faster lines of communication mean advice reaches engineers sooner, resolution times have shortened, and hazardous or obsolete materials have been removed from sites within a day of being reported. The result is safer working environments, reduced downtime, more predictable workflows, evidence for compliance audits and greater client confidence in how risks are managed.
Chris Blair, HSEQ Manager for Protech, said: “Health and safety is a real passion of mine. My role is to bring the right tools and people together, but lasting change only happens when everyone buys into the same beliefs and works collaboratively. This system has helped us turn that shared commitment into real, practical improvements on site. Winning the Positive Impact Award highlights the tangible value created when technology is combined with frontline expertise.”
The award marks a milestone in Protech Group’s programme of safety innovation and underlines the company’s commitment to embedding a culture of empowerment, inclusivity and transparency. The company is continuing to refine the platform and extend its use across more contracts to drive further improvements in site safety and operational performance.
